Greetings,
If Suitcase Fusion is set as a startup item, it may be trying to connect to the background type core process before it has a chance to start up completely. That’s why restarting Suitcase Fusion fixes the problem.
There’s no way to force startup items to load in a particular order, so we don’t recommend having Suitcase set as a startup item.

Adobe Illustrator no loading fonts except for last art board
Greetings,
The blue diamond next to the font entry means that the auto-activation plug-ins are activating the fonts. But I’m not sure why Illustrator can’t see them.
Have you tried clearing the font caches (File > Clean Font Caches) and restarting the machine?
If that doesn’t work, I suggest opening a support ticket so we can do more troubleshooting.

I did try the font cache clear. Didn’t seem to help. 
Thinking about it, maybe I have an extension that is conflicting?
I’ve been having similar issues with Photoshop … Starting to think that maybe I need to do a fresh install of all Adobe apps/extensions. I’ll give that a try too.
Thanks for tip on opening a support request. I’ll do that if all else fails.

How do I show font folders like Suitcase 7 in Suitcase 8?
Same as everyone, i’d like the return of the column view…
Working with around 20000 fonts makes it hardly usable unless I already know the name of the font I want to use, which kind of defeats the purpose.
Also : The new version is slower than the old one.
Also : Please implement a ‘watched folder’ that detects automatically new added fonts to said folder
All in all, really not happy with the update… You broke something that was working fine, you didn’t ‘streamline’ anything but made life harder for us professionals.
It really isn’t that hard to listen to what your PAYING costumers are asking…

Can't access the Catalogs – java.net.ConnectException: Connection refused
Hi, I am running Portfolio 2.5.3 on a Mac Pro 5,1 with macOS 10.13.3. I cloned the boot drive with Carbon Copy Cloner because I had to exchange the boot drive. Don’t know if the problem comes from the cloning but I realised it after the cloning.
When I open Portfolio Web I get following message:
An unexpected error occurred.
No catalog media is loaded. If I go into Portfolio Administrator to the catalog section I get following failure message:
The server returned a fault with this message: error getting catalog details; nested exception is:
java.net.ConnectException: Connection refused
I tried to make a clean install of Portfolio and restored different backups but nothings seems to solve this problem.
Can you please help? Any ideas?

How do I show font folders like Suitcase 7 in Suitcase 8?
I gave up, and switched to High-Logic Main Type. It’s simply hopeless here. Everyone in the Beta told them that losing folder view was a disaster. They didn’t listen. SF 8 is useless, certainly to me. What slays me is, like a moron, I agreed to be a BetaTester for 8, and 8 completely overrode my 7 install. When the beta was over, I was instructed to LICENSE 8! 7 was completely nuked from my computer, and they wanted me to PAY to use that POS 8. That was it for me, the arrogance, overwriting my 7 install with this…I gave up, and switched. I’m much, much, MUCH happier.
At least at MT they give two craps about what the customers say.
BTW, anyone here EVER gotten FontGenius to identify a font? EVER? I damn sure haven’t.

I am a French user of Suitcase Fusion for over 20 years. Also very disappointed with this update that I made to use Indesign 2018. I uninstalled this version and I went back to version 7. I also spent $ 60 for nothing. I do not speak English well and I can not explain in detail the reasons for my anger, but they are the same as those described here by the many users of Sutcase Fusion. Thank you for coming back very quickly to the features of version 7. If you do nothing, I will have to quickly abandon Extensis and go to FontExplorer X Pro!

Hi All.
SF8 was designed by someone who doesn’t use the product. I don’t have time to wait for them to reverse engineer it, and it has royally screwed our workflow.
So I’m here to ask what app to switch to? FontExplorer? RightFont?
Also, any tips on how I manage to get the fonts out of the SF vault and into the replacement product?

Activated Font not available
Recently some fonts that are activated in Suitcase are not available in programs that do not have a suitcase plug-in. Previously if I opened a new program, any fonts that were already open in Suitcase were available in that program. I’ve restarted, checked that the fonts are open in Suitcase, then opened other software and fonts are not in list. I’ve tried this with various Microsoft programs, Adobe Premiere etc. The fonts in question have previously been accessible in these programs. And yet the fonts are available in programs with Suitcase plug in and (oddly) Filemaker Pro.
Any thoughts?

Suitcase 8 Running Extremely Slow on my Mac
Any further updates on performance, chaps? It seems SF8 has a number of issues and I am trying to get a handle on them before upgrading - of skip SF8 altogether.
