No longer able to activate/deactivate any fonts with Windows 10 Anniversary Update

I am running the new Windows 10 Anniversary Update that just came out this week.

I am now unable to activate or deactivate any fonts that were not previously activated or deactivated. (i.e. when I click "Permanently Activate" on a font that is not active, it activates and then immediately deactivates. Similarly, when I click "Deactivate" on an active font, it deactivates an then immediately reactivates.)

This is happening on BOTH computers I am running Suitcase Fusion on, and BOTH of them are running the new Windows 10 Anniversary update.

Anyone else having this issue? This is directly affecting my ability to work, and I have deadlines....!!!

Well, it's been 24 days now and still no resolution. I hope Extensis plans on continuing development of Suitcase as a product. At this point we need to move forward with a solution that will not keep our business from being productive. Hang in there Extensis, we are rooting for you. We would like to stick with Suitcase as a font management utility, but it looks as if we may need to look for an alternative now.

Thank you for the reply. The user took action.

Apparently changed Universal Type Auto-Activation Preferences to:

Pick the best match when original is missing. Not sure if this will be 100% but the user is happy.

Hi Dan,

Windows 10 made a few changes that can sometimes causes issues with a current installation of Suitcase Fusion 7. I suggest an uninstall / reinstall of Fusion and that should take care of your activation issue.

Individually editing a description for an asset after upload

Hi williajo,

Portfolio should only edit the metadata for a selected asset. Unless you are selecting multiple assets, then the description should only be editable for that one asset. Is it possible you are applying the description to a multiple selection?

What is the preferred method of handling two completely different fonts with the same name?

Hi!

Yep in that case there isn't much you can do, with how Windows activates fonts only one of those can be activated at a time.

You might report the naming issue to the font vendor, they might have just made a mistake!

Preview Window Horizontal Scroll?

Still have a bunch off licenses on version 6 here.

Big pet peeve is that there is no horizontal scrolling in the preview window. We use a lot of ornaments, panels, and elements. Often you need to use a large font size (ie 96) to see the details of the collection. This presents the problem of the ever so nefarious "...", ending your ability to quickly check multiple collections. The current work around is quite a bit of a nag, editing the ABC 123 to include multiple carriage returns or using the Quicktype. These techniques in themselves presents yet another issue, there is no vertical scroll for the single font collection, after so many carriage returns fonts disappear below the bottom of the preview window.

Has this been addressed in version 7?

What does the clock icon on folders in the bottom right corner mean? The asset is being processed is my guess - but processing how? I have some assets that are taking hours to fulling ingest.

Hi mgrosz,

The clock icon is in the right corner of the Last Cataloged folder in the Organizers panel. Assets in this folder are ones that have been cataloged in the past 24 hrs. It does not indicate that an asset is still being processed. For more information on the Organizers panel check out the Portfolio Help here.

Sure. We have images that where taken by a previous employee on her digital camera. She didn't have the settings correct when she for got the camera, so all images came in horizontal, even though she took them vertically. If users could see these images in the proper format they will be more likely to use them. I've flagged a few examples here.

As I find these images in the collection I would like to be able to rotate them.
