Adobe CC Plugin Compatibility Plan

Hello all,

Adobe has delivered its latest CC 2015 (June 2016) release today requiring new plugin updates from Extensis.
Extensis is planning the following release plan for all of its Font Management solutions.

The UTS team is preparing its official release in a week.
In the meanwhile, if you rely on UTC auto-activation plugins please refrain from updating your CC applications until the UTC 6.1 release is official. I will update this post as soon as installers are made public.

Important
As always, please DO NOT manually copy plugins into Adobe plug-ins folders that are not intended to be there.
Suitcase and Universal Type Client require separate plugin versions and may not work as expected.
Using incompatible plugins may even cause your Adobe applications to unexpectedly crash.

CS 2015 - Photoshop - Extensis panel not working after latest release/ update

Yet again, after updating to yet another new version of Adobe Creative suite (2015.5.0), I get the error "This panel was unable to connect to Suitcase Fusion" in Photoshop. This is the panel that is supposed to show Google fonts.

I get this problem EVERY time Adobe updates to a new release of Creative Suite and Extensis then play catch up to fix it. The Extensis Panel has a problem yet again which I have to find out the hard way. This has happened to me over at least the past four times I've updated Creative Suite, wasting tens of hours and money.

I'm waiting to be told by Extensis something along the lines of the following YET AGAIN:

"Suitcase Fusion 6 is an older version we dont support the plugins for anymore, update to 7"
After I pay yet more money for a product that I might have only had for a year, and update to 7 and it still doesnt fix it "We're aware of the problem, which is because Adobe have done ABC, our developers are working on a fix, it'll be out soon. We couldnt prevent this .... etc"
Several weeks and mutiple people asking when its going to be fixed, later, we'll get told "almost ready ...".
Weeks pass by "yes, almost ready. Now in testing"
6 weeks from start of fault "OK, ready, can you download the fix?"
Some will still have problems but some it'll work for until its tweaked after a week, yet again.

Extensis, this happens every time, every time I upgrade I wait more weeks for a fix!

Every time I get told lessons will be learnt but its Adobe's fault. Pay up and wait!

Why such poor service and solutions?

Please let me know when this will be fixed?

I've re-installed both Photoshop and Suitcase Fusion 6 and still not working.
Just checked the Plug-in manager and it seems that the new update to Photoshop and illustrator isnt recognised as being installed by the Plugin manager so isnt showing in the list to Enable/ Disable it. Either that or its not set up to look for it because it's not supported. I assume this is why the panel isnt working or at least a part of the problem.
When's this going to be updated/ fixed please?

Compatibility for the latest Adobe CC applications is available in Suitcase Fusion 7 (version 18.1).
Extensis doesn't have any plan to update Suitcase Fusion 6 at this time.

Our most release of Suitcase Fusion 7 includes a fix for the issue of the dialog continuing to appear. You can grab the update via the auto-updater by selecting:

Mac: Suitcase Fusion -> Check for Updates...
Windows: Tools -> Check for Updates...

You can also download the latest installer from our website here:
http://www.extensis.com/support/product-support/suitcase-fusion-7/

In addition, you can check Pick Best Match in the prefs if you would prefer not to see the dialog at all.

Last week we switched to El Capitan and Suitcase Fusion 7. In InDesign (latest version) we are constantly bothered with messages of fonts not being in the Suitcase database. We didn't get messages like that before, only from InDesign itself. Another problem is that the Suitcase message comes at least twice everytime. This is getting very annoying.

We work a lot with fonts that are saved with the InDesign package option so quite often it is no problem at all the fonts aren't in the Suitcase database because InDesign loads them itself but still we have to click that Suitcase message away all the time.

Apart from all this we would like to only get a font missing message from InDesign, not Suitcase. So is there a way to disable the 'font not in database' error while still using auto-activation?

And when will you fix the bug where the message is shown two times everytime? I read about this in a post from 2015 already so I am surprised to see this still hasn't been fixed.

Thanks for the reply! I am home right now so I can't check it but I did download the latest installer last Tuesday or Wednesday... but I will see if there is yet another update.

And thanks for the Pick best match tip. I have to check though what it does exactly. I don't want it to replace the fonts! I suppose it lets Suitcase load a font that looks like the missing one but does it only load it or also replace it...?
EDIT I had a look at the manual which can be found on the Suitcase site and it seems Pick best match actually replaces the missing font in the document with another one which certainly is not what I want!

Well, anyway, I will have a loot at it all coming Monday when I am at work again!

Smart Searches Duplicated

All of my smart searched have been duplicated since installing Suitcase 7 and choosing to sync my fonts yesterday. :unamused:

Hi Mark!

You will see duplicate Smart Searches if you previously had Smart Searches with the same name in multiple libraries (or Smart Searches with the same name on multiple computers).

We had to allow this due to the previous limitation of only being able to create a Smart Search in a particular library. It was either attempt to merge Smart Searches (which would have been problematic and would have resulted in duplicate named searches anyway) or drop any duplicate Smart Searches which didn't sound right either.

If you remove the duplicates and both machines replicate you shouldn't see that again.

There was indeed a new update which solved the double message. Pick best match indeed stops the messages completely and even though I have no clue what it does exactly, things seem to work as I want them now. So thanks for the support!

Every time I relaunch Suitcase, whether after a restart or for any other reason, it asks me all the setup questions re font vault, system fonts etc. It's quite annoying and I'm wondering if there is some way to stop this behavior? I would like to just be able to set y preferences and have it done!

Google Fonts Latin extended characters not displaying

Greetings;
sorry that i am a newbie, but i think this is the category that fits to my problem..

we are having a problem with google fonts on both platforms with PS, AI and ID. The problem is, we cannot enable latin-extended support for the fonts that we want to use.. For example; Raleway has a latin-extended feature on fonts.google.com but when we try to write, the appropriate characters cannot be shown. I attached a screenshot trying to highlight the problem.. I'm wondering if there is a workaround for this problem. Thanks


Unable to Uninstall Suitcase Fusion 2 from Windows 10

Hello there,
before I upgraded from Windows 7 to Windows 10, I used Extensis Suitcase Fusion 2 (Version 13), and I had so far never a problem!

However, after upgrading to Windows 10, conflicts with suitcase fusion 2 arised. That is why I uninstalled Suitcase Fusion 2 and installed Suitcase Fusion 7 (Version 18) (USD 119.85).

Apparently, however, essential components haven't been properly uninstalled during the deinstallation process. Because Suitcase Fusion produced the following error message: "Suitcase Fusion could not open the Font Vault on location . C \ Users \ User \ AppData \ Local \ Extensis \ Suitcase Fusion \ Suitcase Fusion.fontvault.

Meanwhile, I've made a Windows system restore because of the font vault conflict. That means Suitcase Fusion 2 is now again on my system.

At present, when starting the program Suitcase Fusion 2 I'm getting the following message: "Suitcase Fusion 2, Universal Type Core."

And after clicking OK appears the following: "Suitcase Fusion 2, "The application Suitcase Fusion can not be executed, because the Suitcase Fusion Core is not running."

Please help me to process a clean deinstallation of Suitcase fusion 2 in order to reinstall Suitcase Fusion 7 properly.
Sorry for our English, we are German. Thanks in advance for your reply.

I updated to Adobe CC 2015.3 yesterday, running mac os x 10.11.5 and suitcase fusion 6 v 17.3.2. After installing the adobe cc updates, only the indesign auto activation plugin works. In the manage plugins panel, It appears as though Illustrator isn't installed or is unavailable. Any idea when this will be updated?
