Hi gopabear,

To send a private message, click on the recipients name in their post. In the window that pops up, click Message. In the message window tool bar, click on upload icon - it's the little computer with the up arrow. Browse to and choose your file and click the upload button to place a file link in your post. Please use a .txt file.

I am having the exact same problem as gopabear. I have attached my suitcase fusion preference file for your review. I am working on an imac, El Capitan 10.11.5, Suitcase Fusion 7. Let me know if I can provide anything else.

Hi!

Thanks for providing the .plist file. It looks like the file is not being updated correctly. I suspect it is due to a permissions error causing Suitcase to not be able to write to the com.extensis.SuitcaseFusion.plist.

You can check the permissions on the pref folder and the file to make sure you have Read/Write access to the file or as a quick test copy the com.extensis.SuitcaseFusion.plist to the desktop, remove the one in the Preferences folder and launch Suitcase.

This should create a new preference file for you (you will have to go through the first launch dialogs again :wink:). After that subsequent launches of Suitcase shouldn't bring up the first launch dialog. If this fixes the issue we will know for sure that the permissions are not set correctly on the pref file.

Removing the preference file from the folder and restarting to test (a few times) as you suggested, resolved my issue. Thank you!

Hi!

Glad that helped clear up the issue for you. As a side note the original issue gopabear was having as well as yourself was related to the preferences file not having the correct permissions.

The settings for the permissions file should be:

(Me) - Read and Write
everyone - no access

Just in case anyone else out there runs into the same issue.

For those who aren't sure, "Pick best match" is available in InDesign via the Type Menu > Suitcase Fusion > Suitcase Fusion Auto Activation Preferences

It worked for me.

Illustrator 2015.3 crashes on launch while SF7 plugin activates fonts

Upgraded the OS to 10.11.6 and retested:

Suitcase 7 Ver: 18.1.0 (1042)
Adobe Illustrator Ver: 2015.3.0
New stock build Mac Pro (Late 2013) w/ OSX 10.11.6

Same results. Illustrator crashes on launch when double-clicking on the document in the Finder.

Remove the Suitcase plugin and Illustrator does not crash.

This is the Extensis tech support response:

There is currently no known issue of:
Illustrator CC 2015.3 crashes when I double click a file in Finder to open and Illustrator is not running with SF7 version 18.1 on OS X 10.11.5
I have passed your files on to to our DEV team for analysis and will report back with their findings.

Illustrator Extensis font preview panel not showing font previews

The Extensis font panel in Illustrator was working perfectly, giving previews to all my fonts and letting me activate them with one click. Yesterday, after a reboot, it stopped working. It would show previews for some fonts but not most, which it would show the font names in a generic font and not allow me to activate them by clicking.

This morning I uninstalled Suitcase Fusion, rebooted, deleted c:/users/myname/appdata/local/extensis, rebooted, ran ccleaner, rebooted, reinstalled Suitcase Fusion, reloaded my font library. No luck. Actually it's now worse, only showing font previews for very few of my fonts.

I lodged a support ticket but I'm posting this here too, in case anyone else has the same problem. I haven't heard back from support yet, and I can't afford to lose much more time, this is a production computer and I have client work that needs attention.

Thanks for reaching out with your inquiry. I have provided answers below but feel free to hit us up for more details as needed.

Can a UTC client 6 work with a UTC server V3?
No, UTS client applications are not backward compatible.
So version 6.x clients only work with a current 6.x server.

Can a UTC client V3 work with UTC server v6?
Unfortunately version 3 clients do not work with a V6 server.
Extensis' policy is to support clients one major version backward. So for example, UTS 6 server currently supports version 5 clients and above.
This provides our customers with approximately 2-3 years of uninterrupted service for client users before requiring an upgrade.
