Suitcase Fusion 8 – Features Request
VERSION 19.0.3 Dec 13th 2017
some fixes, but no column view… Thanks Extensis, NOT!
Server error when uploading images (PF 2016)
Hi Dirk,
Because you can’t upload with the client, it sounds like you have a problem with your Portfolio installation, not the API itself. I’d suggest either re-installing, or testing the API on a known good system, or giving our tech support group a call and trouble-shooting your installation.

Professionals already know what the fonts look like. We just want a list view.

Your workaround is a terrible solution. Please fix the program to work correctly.

you have RUINED this product.

Agreed… It’s awful now. Not to mention the FM core never launches on startup anymore.
Plugins not installing CC2018 with latest installer
This is ridiculous. Auto activation in the Adobe Creative Suite is supposed to be a feature of Suitcase. You’re essentially blackmailing your users into upgrading to what is, apparently, a vastly inferior product if they want to keep using this feature. This is not the kind of behavior I expect from a company like Extensis. I think it may be time for me to switch to a different font management tool.
Have to update to keep product work - seriously?
That’s odd, all the other plugins I use in Adobe products didn’t just suddenly stop working when I updated to CS 2018, only yours did.
Have to update to keep product work - seriously?
And we all know that the architecture behind plugins hasn’t changed at all. You’re excuses are paper thin.
Suitcase Fusion 7 and CC 2018
5,000 fonts… try working with this program with 40,000 fonts. It’s sluggish at the best of times.
Extensis is simply blackmailing its customers on an annual basis by refusing to update advertised features, even though the software is nowhere near end of life, and this is wrong on so many levels. Plugin architecture does not change that dramatically between Adobe versions and I seriously doubt that Extensis has to do anything more that update compatible version numbers in the code somewhere.
Suitcase Fusion 7 and CC 2018
I have more than 5000 font families, but many more actual fonts installed. I haven’t bothered to install the hundreds more I own…And you are right, it’s sluggish at best. And Extensis doesn’t seem to care. I really hated the beta version. I’d love to find something else that works as well as Suitcase used to, but nothing I’ve tried was as good as what I’ve got. And I hate that there is no auto-activation for CC. The cost of doing business for the independent designer has skyrocketed, and it’s getting harder every day to make a living.
Sort by Date Font Added, is gone
Why?
I felt forced to update, for less functionality.
Really unhappy with this update.

I mentioned this issue back on day one of the Public Beta. The current methods result in a much slower refresh as the SF8 tries to display each typeface. The problem that seems to elude Extensis is that I need to quickly see all variations of my Bodoni’s, for example. I need to quickly see which one has which version number for when SF8 chooses the wrong version (rare, but not unknown). I need to quickly select only the Adobe, or Bitstream, or URW or ITC foundry versions to minimize the unwanted behavior that sometimes occurs when similar fonts from different foundries are open at the same time (try using an InDesign italic character style when for some reason the wrong foundry is open and they use oblique instead of italic). Because let’s face it, as great as SF is, it has its occasional errors opening fonts, especially with much larger libraries with almost every font having 5 or 6+ version number and foundry variations. It’s easy to compensate for when all that info is available at once. When it’s only available on a font by font basis, it’s a real pain.
We’ve went ahead and are transitioning to 7 seats of TeamSync, but this is still an issue that makes troubleshooting font/app conflicts much more difficult.

Well, actually you can select the whole family:
click on the symbol with the 4 squares(tiles), now you have a view with the complete font family.
Click on the font name, it will select the complete family, click on the grey circle, now it will activate the complete family at once!
Font Updates?
How do I update a particular font in Suitcase 8? Do I have to delete and reinstall the updated version? I hope there is an easier way. I have not kept up with my font updates so I have a bunch to do.
